no one's talking about what we're going to do in the next couple years. usually it's the other way around with politicians. neither romney nor obama has told people here's how your life will be better if i'm elected president. >> or harder. >> there are some sacrifices, but those sacrifices are supposed to make it better. >> but we talked last night, mark, about candidates and leaders that tell the truth and how the truth works. but yet that doesn't seem -- not necessarily among the presidential candidates, i would say they skirt the hard truths. but there are candidates out there that are afraid to tell the truth as well. >> well, we talked about telling hard truths, and our hope was that given the nature of the challenges that we face right now, which we know are going to take some hard truths, there would be some discussion about that. and both campaigns, i think, largely have been trying to avoid that, playing it safer. and this is the time to have that dialogue. so hopefully we'll see some of that tonight. >> it would be great if one question was ask

all obama has to do is have testosterone in the next debate. >> i think we see the new romney and he's going to be great. i think the president, just like reagan in '84, we keep saying it, just like, you know, george w. in '04. >> it's teed up. >> look, they're still looking at baseball cards. >> nolan ryan, mookie wilson. >> i never got baseball cards when i was -- >> mookie acquired his nickname from his grandmother. >> all right. >>> up next, "mad money's" jim cramer joins us on set. >> that's big. jim cramer, man. it doesn't get any bigger than that. >> cramer! >>> beautiful shot of the sunrise and a plane taking off in washington, d.c. welcome back to "morning joe." 23 past the hour. that was pretty. >> could have been t.j. thank you, t.j. >> here with us now, the host of "mad money," jim cramer. i don't know if he's mad. he's feeling pretty good. >> so jim, what are we going to see at 8:30? i mean, we're not going to -- not going to get great news, are we? >> is it going to be bad? >> a lot of industries not hiring. a lot of industries still cutting back. of course the government

let's take a look at this and the next ten years. so the ten years in front of us and what each proposed. what's interesting is that president obama and congressman ryan have almost the exact same proposal for the next ten years, save $1 trillion from medicare, not by cutting benefits or raising costs to elderly, but reducing payments to hospitals and other kind of providers. interestingly those two are in the same place on the next two years. romney for whatever set of reasons says he doesn't want to do anything in the next ten years, which means that $1 trillion that his vice presidential running mate would save he does not want to save. he's in a different place on the next ten years. so let's go to the period after that. what's the long-term plan that each of these guys has for cost containment. again, very interestingly, president obama congressman ryan want to achieve exactly the same level of medicare spending over the definite future. they want to increase by gdp plus 1.5%. they would get there different ways. president obama

we'll see how he does next to president obama which i think is a little bit different. >> yeah. >> that ohio poll is interesting because the cbs one we had last week had it at ten points. now we have another one showing it at nine points. if you start to look at the map, if he doesn't take iowa, if it gets away from him, it becomes difficult to put a puzzle together to win. >> by the way, there has been this narrative that there is the grand conspiracy and that the polls are skewed. this is what walter mondale said in 1984. this is what moveon.org said in 2004, that all the polls were skewed against john kerry and moveon.org said you just wait. and now you're hearing it frantically on the other side, which ironically, again, they are putting fox news in the grand conspiracy. >> what about the conference call today that we have to plan and organize? >> exactly. my point is here we've got a couple of local polls that are showing this, and more importantly, and you guys talk to the romney people all the time. i certainly talk to them all the time. i can tell you, they're not pushing back o
